Compendium

Film, theater and opera director Selcuk Cara initially studied philosophy and opera singing.

On the advice of Werner Schroeter, he studied directing and in the master's degree in scenography. Master classes and seminars etc. Vittorio Storaro, Vilmos Zsigmond, Gus Van Sant, Mike Figgis, Christopher Doyle and Dennis Hopper flanked his training. As the first director of Turkish origin, he won the Yerevan International Film Festival in Armenia and was invited to the New York City International Film Festival - over 140 international awards followed.

Selcuk Cara opened the Brecht Festival with a comparison of "The Measure" (B. Brecht / H.Eisler) and "The Grand Inquisitor" (F. Dostojewski)

Selcuk Cara is currently working on Richard Wagner's “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” on the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg as part of Nuremberg's application for the European Capital of Culture 2025. As in almost all of his productions, he takes over the areas: artistic production management, editing, spoken text, direction, stage design, lighting design, costume.

The European Capital of Culture 2025 competition is the largest cultural event in the European Union, with the title being awarded each year to one city in two countries.

Locations are Iceland, France and Scandinavia.
